MISSING 3-YEAR-OLD JOSHUA OVALLES FOUND SAFE, REUNITED WITH FATHER (Photo) - 10/08/26
The Beaverton Police Department is pleased to announce that 3-year-old Joshua E. Ovalles, who was reported missing on October 7, 2026 and was the subject of an Amber Alert, has been located, is safe and has been reunited with his father.
Joshua was located safely in the City of Lake Oswego after his mother, Mari Martinez, dropped him off at the home of a trusted individual.
After dropping Joshua off, Martinez fled the area, prompting a coordinated search by law enforcement to locate her. Officers and detectives from the Beaverton Police Department, along with personnel from the Lake Oswego Police Department and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, participated in the search. A Lake Oswego Police Department detective ultimately located Martinez, who was taken into custody.
Joshua had been the subject of an ongoing search after Martinez took him following a Washington County judge’s decision to grant temporary custody to Joshua’s father. The court determined Joshua was in “immediate danger” while in his mother’s unsupervised custody.
Following his recovery, Joshua was reunited with his father. Photographs accompanying this release capture the emotional reunion between father and son.
The Beaverton Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Lake Oswego Police Department, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, and the many community members who shared information and helped bring attention to Joshua’s disappearance.
Most importantly, we are grateful that Joshua has been found safe and is back in his father’s arms.
Martinez is in Beaverton police custody and is facing charges of Custodial Interference and Kidnapping.
