Beaverton Police are investigating a series of events that ended with a traffic crash on SW Allen Boulevard and a Beaverton man suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The investigation began at approximately 4:28 p.m. on September 5, 2026, when officers responded to a crash on SW Allen Boulevard between SW 141st Avenue and SW Murray Boulevard. Officers located a black 2010 Volkswagen Routan minvan that had left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, a Beaverton man in his 20s, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound following the crash.
As officers investigated, they learned the events leading to the crash began earlier that morning. Investigators learned the man had been involved in a domestic disturbance with his significant other at a Beaverton area apartment complex, during which he allegedly pointed a gun at his significant other. Beaverton Police were not called to the disturbance when it occurred, and the two separated afterward.
Later that afternoon, the man was driving the Volkswagen when he was involved in multiple traffic crashes along SW Davis Road and SW Allen Boulevard. The series of crashes ended when the Volkswagen left the roadway on SW Allen Boulevard and struck a tree at approximately 4:28 p.m. Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the crashes.
After the final crash, investigators determined the man shot himself. Emergency medical personnel transported him to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
SW Allen Boulevard was closed in both directions between SW 141st Avenue and SW Murray Boulevard for several hours yesterday while officers investigated the crash and surrounding circumstances.
