Beaverton Man Sentenced to Prison for Shooting 16-Year-Old Girlfriend
A Washington County Circuit Court judge has sentenced Sky Alexander Korbut, 20, to 70 months in prison for shooting his 16-year-old girlfriend in Beaverton in November 2024.
On November 21, 2024, at approximately 4:55 a.m., Beaverton Police officers responded to an assault with a weapon call at a residence on SW Prairie Terrace. The 911 caller, Sky Alexander Korbut, who was 18 years old at the time, reported that he had accidentally shot his 16-year-old girlfriend.
Officers arrived to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. She was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Korbut was initially arrested on charges of Assault in the Third Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. As the investigation progressed, detectives uncovered additional evidence, including statements provided by the victim that contradicted Korbut’s account of the shooting.
Based on the evidence developed during the investigation, Korbut was indicted by a Washington County Grand Jury on charges of Assault in the Second Degree (Measure 11) and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Following a week-long jury trial in April 2026, Korbut was found guilty on both charges.
Last week, a Washington County Circuit Court judge sentenced Korbut to 70 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections.
