Beaverton Police officers responded to a welfare check on April 17th, 2026 at the Arbor Creek Apartments after a concerned citizen reported being approached by a young child asking for help.
The caller told dispatch that a 4-year-old girl, later identified as Nova Hallett, had waved her down and said her grandmother had fallen. The caller also reported that Nova was unable to provide the exact apartment number, prompting an urgent response from officers.
Within minutes of arriving, officers contacted Nova, who then led them directly to her apartment. The door was unlocked, allowing officers to quickly enter and check on her grandmother.
Inside, officers found Nova’s grandmother suffering from a medical emergency. She appeared confused and disoriented, likely due to the severity of the incident. Officers immediately requested medical assistance, and the grandmother was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Nova’s mother, Hayley Rose, was alerted to the situation and immediately left work to respond to the apartment. Upon arrival, she learned of her daughter’s actions and the critical role Nova played in getting help.
Officers on scene were struck by Nova’s composure and courage during what was clearly a frightening situation.
Since the event Nova’s grandmother has been discharged from the hospital and returned home.
“Nova demonstrated an incredible level of bravery and awareness, especially for someone so young,” said Public Information Officer Matt Henderson. “Her ability to recognize an emergency, seek help, and guide first responders to her grandmother undoubtedly made a difference in the outcome.”
Based on her actions, the Beaverton Police Department will be nominating Nova Hallett for a community life-saving award.
