Beaverton PD Officer Involved Shooting

Beaverton, Oregon – A patrol officer from the Beaverton Police Department was involved in a shooting Wednesday night after a burglary suspect fled on foot. The suspect was wanted by Beaverton Police for a residential burglary which occurred earlier in the day and an outstanding felony warrant for parole violation.
During the foot pursuit the suspect entered the fenced-in backyards of homes near the intersection of SW 14th and SW Alger Ave. Beaverton Police Officers gave chase on foot while commanding the suspect to stop. During the attempted apprehension, the suspect pulled a gun and discharged it, resulting in a self-inflicted gun-shot wound. At the same time, one of the Beaverton Police Officers who gave chase fired his duty weapon at the suspect.
The suspect sustained injuries as a result of the shooting. The suspect was transported to a local hospital.
Washington County Major Crimes team is leading the ongoing investigation.
