On March 20, 2018 Beaverton Police officers arrested 24-year-old Nicasio McCoy and 49-year-old Megel Perez for theft in the first degree, a class C Felony.

At 9:18 AM officers were called to the 6500 block of SW Old Scholls Ferry Road regarding a male who overdosed. When officers arrived they noticed various items they suspected were stolen inside the home. Mr. McCoy allegedly confessed to stealing the items from various store locations and also implicated Mr. Perez in the thefts. Mr. Perez was transported to St. Vincent Hospital for medical treatment.

Among the alleged stolen items were jeans, purses and electronic equipment. The value of the alleged stolen items totaled approximately 1700 dollars.

At 12:36 PM Mr. Perez checked himself out of the hospital and immediately ran from our officer waiting for him to be discharged. After a short foot pursuit which ended in the northbound lanes of Hwy 217 at Hwy 26, Mr. Perez was taken into custody. The freeway was shut down for a short time for the safety of Mr. Perez and our officers.

Mr. McCoy and Mr. Perez were transported to Washington County Jail. Mr. McCoy was charged with theft in the first degree and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Multnomah County. Mr. Perez was charged with theft in the first degree, interfering with a police officer, providing false information to a police officer and an outstanding felony probation violation warrant.
