Pleasant Valley Schools To Celebrate 50th Anniversary Of Current Campus

Pleasant Valley schools have a long legacy of learning. First, there was Pleasant Valley District No. 60 in the mid-1800s. That district was consolidated into the Battle Ground School District in 1957. Community-approved bonds later financed the current Pleasant Valley campus, which opened in 1976.
Although the school was not fully furnished at the time of its opening, that temporary inconvenience did little to slow the work happening inside the classrooms. Pleasant Valley’s teachers made sure their students understood that learning could continue even without all the usual supplies and materials, setting an early example of the care, commitment and dedication that would come to define the school community.
Now, several decades later, Pleasant Valley primary and middle schools will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the current campus. All alumni, families, staff and community members are invited to this event, which will include memorabilia, music and connections with past and present staff, students, families and community members.
Organizers are seeking community participation in several ways. Alumni musicians are invited to volunteer to join an alumni band, while former students, staff and community members can submit memories or participate in interviews for a memory wall display commemorating Pleasant Valley’s history.
“Pleasant Valley has shaped the history of its community,” said Amy Pace, a current teacher at the school and Pleasant Valley alum. “We look forward to telling the history of this campus and writing the next chapter of Pleasant Valley schools.”
