Corvallis, Ore. -- Benton County Sheriff's Office participated in extra DUII Patrol, February 2-5, 2018, to coincide with the Super Bowl weekend and are currently working a Seat Belt Saturation Patrol.
During the Super Bowl DUII patrol, one driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, two for Reckless Driving, and one arrest was made for Driving While Suspended. Among the traffic stops, deputies issued six traffic citations for driving with a suspended license, 21 citations for speeding, and also responded to four traffic crashes.
Benton County Sheriff's Office's next DUII Saturation Patrol is scheduled for February 22-25, for the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival. BCSO will be targeting drivers under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, and inhalants.
Driver impairment and speeding are the most common causes of injury crashes. Oregon's DUII enforcement program is committed to reducing the amount of crashes and impaired drivers on our roadways by keeping them off the roadway and arresting them when they choose to drive. For more info on impaired driving, visit www.StopImpairedDriving.com.
Our Seat Belt Saturation Patrol period began February 5 and will run through February 18. Deputies are targeting adults and children not wearing proper safety belts or child restraints, drivers using cell phones while driving, and speeding.
Seat Belt Statistics, including child restraint citation data, will be provided in March. If you need help with child seats or additional "best practice" information, refer to the seat manufacturer's instructions and your vehicle owner's manual.
