Astoria Police Respond to a Murder / Suicide at Bayshore Apartments - 09/25/24

Astoria police officers responded to Bayshore Apartments in the 1400 block of W. Marine Drive in reference to two unresponsive victims lying on the floor. Responding officers located a man and woman who had succumbed to gunshot wounds.

On September 25, 2024, at 9:57 a.m., Astoria Dispatch received a call from a maintenance employee at the Bayshore Apartments stating that he located two subjects on the floor of one of their buildings, bleeding profusely.  Astoria Police and Oregon State Police arrived on the scene at 10:04 a.m. and located a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds. First aid was rendered, and both victims were pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that the victims were married, and it appears from the evidence at the scene that the husband shot the wife and then killed himself. We are not releasing further details until the immediate family has time to make proper notifications.  We ask that anyone familiar with this incident or who witnessed the investigation respect the family's privacy and refrain from revealing the victim and offender’s identity on social media.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Detective Madyson Hanna of the Astoria Police Department at 503-325-4411 or by email at mhanna@astoria.or.us
