AL’S GARDEN & HOME PARTNERS WITH SOUL SEEDS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Two local businesses use “flower power” to highlight sustainable holiday decorating.
Sherwood, OR (September 28, 2022) – Al’s Garden & Home and Soul Seeds collaborated for the holiday season. The result? A gorgeous 12-foot tree covered in a myriad of dried flowers and plants from Al’s. Al’s Garden & Home prepares for the holiday season from July-October due to product volume and number of stores they decorate to the delight of their customers.
Al’s Garden & Home will be celebrating their 75th anniversary next year and continues to partner with local businesses. Soul Seeds, owned by Amanda Bayha and located in downtown Newberg, was a natural fit. They specialize in creating art, sculptures, centerpieces, garlands, and more. “It is such a gift to extend the life of flowers and plants and give it new life in something extraordinarily beautiful,” said Bayha. Amanda is showcasing a large-scale botanical installation at The Chehalem Cultural Center on September 30th, 6:00-8:00 pm. The Growing in the Dark sculpture focuses on acknowledging the grief process, its affects, and how we can pause, grow, and experience healing.
“The creative process and collaboration with Soul Seeds were such a great experience,” stated Annie Cantonwine, Merchandiser and fourth generation ownership of Al’s Garden & Home. “It is so gratifying to draw on our product in a sustainable way and lend it to a different season creating a stunning holiday look.”
The dried flower tree took approximately 15 hours and two people to decorate. Bayha and Cantonwine used a variety of dried hydrangeas, allium, teasle, amaranths, dahlias, straw flowers, wire brush, and pampas grass. Elaborate garlands enrobe the entire tree. Everyone can view this spectacular holiday sculpture at Al’s Garden & Home Sherwood location. It is a sight to see.
