News Release

Albany Homicide Investigation - 07/26/21

On Friday, July 23, 2021, at 9:43 AM, the Albany Police Department responded to a welfare check of 33-year-old Angela Nicole Christian at a residence in the 1300 block of Hood Street SE, in Albany.  Subsequently, the relatives of 34-year-old James Loren Anderson, had contacted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office filing a report he was in violation of an active Linn County Circuit Court domestic violence release agreement.  Investigators received information James Anderson and Angela Christian had been together in a rural area of Benton County in violation of the agreement.  James Anderson was contacted at his residence in Blodgett, Oregon. 

At around 5:00 PM family members of Angela Christian filed a missing person report with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.  Angela Christian’s father had checked her residence and found what he believed to be evidence a crime had occurred inside.   A short time later, investigators located a deceased female in the rural area of Mary’s Peak in Benton County.  It was confirmed to be Angela Christian. 

Search warrants were authored and served in Lincoln County, Benton County and Linn County.  It is believed Angela Christian died as a result of homicidal violence in Albany, Oregon. James Anderson was arrested and booked into the Linn County Jail on the charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Contempt of Court-Violation of a No Contact Order. 

Investigators from the Albany Police Department, Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Corvallis Police Department and Lebanon Police Department assisted with the investigation.
