Oregon PUC Invites Round Lake Utilities Customers To Comment On Proposed Rate Increase - 08/20/26

SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon Public Utility Commission (PUC) is inviting customers of DWF Round Lake Park & Utilities LLC, doing business as Round Lake Utilities, and community members to share their input on the company’s request to increase customer rates. Comments may be submitted in several ways, including during an upcoming virtual public meeting.

Held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 6 p.m. via Zoom or by phone.

This meeting will include an overview of the proposed rate increase and an opportunity for participants to provide comments directly to the Administrative Law Judge assigned to this case.

If members of the public are still waiting to comment at 6:30 p.m., the meeting may continue to allow as many members of the public to comment as time permits.

About the Round Lake Utilities request to increase rates

Round Lake Utilities filed a request to increase customer rates on June 18, 2026. This filing is undergoing a formal review as part of a contested case proceeding, during which the PUC, its staff, and other participants will fully investigate the company’s request on behalf of customers.

The proposed rate revision and supporting documentation are available in docket UW 213 on the PUC website. This public meeting is an opportunity for customers to learn more, ask questions, and provide input that will inform the Commission’s decision. Any approved rate changes would likely take effect May 20, 2027.

Oregon PUC Hosts Event In Ontario For Public To Comment On Idaho Power’s Proposed Sale To OTEC - 08/20/26

SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon Public Utility Commission (PUC) is hosting an event in Ontario, Oregon for the public to comment on Idaho Power’s proposed sale of its Oregon distribution system to Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative (OTEC). The PUC will review the proposed sale to determine whether it serves customers’ interests, maintains reliable service, and meets all regulatory requirements.

Idaho Power and OTEC have filed an agreement with the PUC that would transfer Idaho Power’s Oregon service territory and distribution system to OTEC. If approved, Idaho Power’s 20,000 residential, irrigation, commercial, and industrial customers in Malheur, Harney, Baker, and Wallowa counties would become OTEC member-owners. OTEC currently serves Baker, Union, Grant, and Harney counties.

This proposed sale has a base purchase price of $154 million and is expected to close in early 2027. As part of the agreement, OTEC would purchase wholesale energy from Idaho Power through a multi-year power supply arrangement to serve customers in the affected Oregon counties.

If the sale is approved, Idaho Power would no longer serve Oregon electric customers directly but would continue to own and operate generation and transmission facilities in Oregon, including the Boardman to Hemingway (B2H) transmission line.

To support public participation, the PUC is offering several ways for community members to share their comments directly to Commissioners and the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) overseeing this case.

Hearing directly from the community helps the Commission understand how proposed changes may affect people's lives and helps ensure our decisions reflect the needs of the customers we serve,” said Letha Tawney, Chair, Oregon Public Utility Commission.
