Eric Balch Family Involved in Tragic Accident - 07/18/10
Gatesville ISD extends heartfelt sympathy to the Eric Balch family. A fiery explosion on Saturday, July 18, severely burned former high school coach Eric Balch and resulted in the tragic death of Mason, the Balch's youngest son. Cade Balch also received burns in the accident. His burns have been reported to be less severe. Tammy Balch is a fifth grade teacher at Gatesville Intermediate. Tammy and Eric also have two daughters, Ashlee and Brooklyn, that were not involved in the accident. Eric and Cade are receiving treatment at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

A benevolence fund for the Balch family has been established at First National Bank in Gatesville for those interested in helping the Balch family through this tragedy.
