Vancouver Police Investigate Multi-vehicle Collision

Vancouver, Wash. – On August 6, 2025, at around 5:15 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to a multi-vehicle collision at SE Mill Plain Blvd. / SE 160th Avenue. Callers reported a male driving a tow truck ran through a red light striking multiple vehicles. Approximately ten people were injured, at least two with serious injuries, including one person who was ejected from the vehicle they were riding in.
The suspect driver fled on foot and was seen by witnesses going toward an apartment complex in the 17700 block of SE Mill Plain, where police learned the suspect lived. SWAT was called to assist with contacting him, due to information he possibly had access to a gun. Multiple announcements were made outside the suspect’s door, with no response. Officers utilized a UAS (uncrewed aircraft system) to look inside the apartment. The suspect was seen lying on the floor, not moving. SWAT medics entered and found the suspect deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Mill Plain from SE 160th-SE 164th is anticipated to be closed for several hours while the Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit continues the investigation.
Nothing further is releasable at this time.

Vancouver Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Collision

Vancouver, Wash. – On August 5, 2025, at around 8:40 a.m., Vancouver Police responded to NE 49th Street/NE 127th Avenue for a traffic collision involving a bicyclist who had been hit by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they located the bicyclist lying in the roadway and citizens performing CPR on the man. Emergency medical personnel arrived and transported the man to the hospital where he later died.
According to witnesses, the bicyclist was riding an e-bike and was travelling westbound on NE 49th Street in the bike lane, and the vehicle (a Ford Transit van) was travelling eastbound on NE 49th Street when the driver of the van made a left turn in front of the bicyclist and the two collided. The driver remained on scene and there were no indications of impairment.
The Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.

Vancouver Police Investigate Shooting (Update)

The investigation into yesterday’s shooting indicates that there was no prior connection between the suspect and any of the victims. Also, each of the three victims were inside their own residence when the suspect entered their home. The suspect was also located deceased inside his home.
The victim who initially reported that the suspect broke into his home is 43 years old and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The other male victim is 74 years old and also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Neither of these victims were shot. The female victim was 77 years old and died as a result of a gunshot. The suspect was 29 years old.
There is nothing further to release.
The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity, cause and manner of death of the deceased victim and the suspect.

Vancouver, Wash. – On July 23, 2025, at around 6:15 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to the 13600 block of NE 22nd Street. A man reported that an unknown male had broken into his home through a window carrying a shotgun and attacked him. The victim was able to flee from his residence to his neighbor’s house. He suffered injuries related to the fight. As officers were checking homes in the area, they located a male and a female inside a residence near the initial victim’s home. The female was deceased, and the male was injured. A male matching the suspect description was also located deceased in a residence in the neighborhood from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both of the injured victims were transported to the hospital.
The Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is investigating. There is not believed to be any threat to the public. Nothing additional is releasable at this time.

Vancouver Police Arrest Sex Offender For Rape Of Teen (Photo)

Vancouver, Wash. – On July 11, 2025, Vancouver Police responded to an area hospital for the report that a 12-year-old had been provided alcohol by an adult male who then had sexual relations with her. Investigators learned the male was 24-year-old Suliaman Abdul-Hadi, who is a level 3 sex offender who is on GPS monitoring and restricted from being around minors.
On July 18, 2025, with assistance from an Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS), detectives from the Children’s Justice Center/Elder Justice Center, Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit (DECU), and the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), executed a search warrant at Abdul-Hadi’s residence in the 2900 block of NE 143rd Avenue in Vancouver. Abdul-Hadi attempted to flee the residence but was confronted by a Vancouver Police K9 team and taken into custody.
Suliaman Abdul-Hadi was booked into the Clark County Jail for Rape of a Child II, Rape of a Child III, Communication with A Minor for Immoral Purposes, Supplying Liquor to Minors, Disorderly Conduct, Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
This investigation is ongoing, and detectives believe there may be numerous other child victims associated with Abdul-Hadi who targets young girls 11-17. Anyone who may have had contact with Abdul-Hadi or has information about juveniles he has had contact with is asked to contact Detective LeAnn Cone at leann.cone@cityofvancouver.us or Sgt. Vancouver Police Investigate Serious Injury Collision (Photo)

Vancouver, Wash. – On July 21 at around 9:48 p.m., a vehicle traveling northbound on NE St. Johns Rd, passing NE 44th Street, struck a pedestrian who was crossing east to west outside the crosswalk. The pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital. The driver remained on scene, was cooperative, and impairment on the part of the driver was not a factor.
The Vancouver Police Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.

Vancouver Police Investigate Shooting (Update: Arrest)

On July 22nd, 2025, the Vancouver Police Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from the VPD Crime Reduction Unit and Clark Regional SWAT Team, served a search warrant at 5500 NE Fourth Plain Blvd for person(s) associated with the below listed shooting. A 16-year-old male was taken into custody and booked into JDH for crimes including Attempted Murder I, Assault I, and Drive-by shooting. Investigators anticipate additional charges and are seeking information from the public about additional persons involved in the shooting.

Vancouver, Wash. – On July 11th, at around 11:40 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to a disturbance with a weapon call in the 6700 block of E Mill Plain Blvd. Arriving officers located a male in his vehicle who had been shot, and his vehicle had also been hit multiple times. The male was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
The Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation, and nothing further is releasable at this time.
