Finley FFA Chapter Donates Bunkbeds for a Third Year (Photo) - 05/22/23

KENNEWICK, WA – The Finley FFA chapter is again stepping up to assist their community by constructing bunkbeds to donate to local nonprofit Mo’s Place. This is the third year Finley FFA has partnered with Mo’s Place to provide bunkbeds in an effort to keep foster siblings together, thanks to funding from a National FFA Living to Serve Grant.

Finley FFA Chapter Advisor Ronnie Bush used the semester-long National FFA grant of $1,200 to purchase materials for the bunkbeds and to incorporate their construction into classroom curriculum. Students are currently finishing the bunkbeds in the River View High School CTE shop and will deliver the beds in early June. From there, the bunkbeds will be distributed to foster families to help alleviate issues of limited space and allow siblings to be placed together.

“Allowing siblings to remain together is of incredible importance to the success of youth in care and, by proxy, so important for Mo's Place to be able to provide these [bunkbeds] to families willing to take siblings in,” says Mo’s Place co-founder Jen. “We greatly appreciate the ongoing support from the Finley FFA team and for the ability to support other youth, outside of foster care, in our community on their journey to success.”

Mo’s Place serves foster youth in Benton and Franklin Counties and surrounding areas through material goods such as clothing, shoes, diapers, and other basic needs. More information can be found at mosplace509.com.
