PASCO, WA--Pasco Specialty Kitchen (PSK) and Columbia Basin College (CBC) announce the fourth session of Mobile Vending University. Five critical business areas for prospective food truck owners are covered in the series: navigating licensing processes and understanding local code requirements; managing financials and drafting a business plan; learning best practices in operations; sourcing a truck or trailer, and marketing including social media.
Pasco Specialty Kitchen and CBC are thrilled to announce that they've partnered with WorkSource to enable those who need tuition assistance to attend MVU. If you're unemployed and an aspiring food truck owner or know someone who is, check with WorkSource to see if you qualify for tuition assistance to attend MVU. "Being a successful food entrepreneur often means overcoming life lessons and maximizing a defined skill set whether that's cooking, operations or marketing," said Marilou Shea, the program's creator. "The metrics for successful food entrepreneurs are evolving and much of the time, it's about sweat equity, street smarts and a combination of skills that ultimately produce the 'recipe' for business success."
What sets this popular business series apart is its certification by CBC and that it's taught by subject matter experts in their respective fields. Representatives from within the five key areas include private and non-traditional lenders, Broadmoor R.V., successful food truck vendors, Benton-Franklin Health District, Washington State Labor and Industry, City of Pasco Inspection Services, and sales and marketing professionals.
The series is designed to provide a hands-on approach to all things mobile vending. New add-ons for winter session include expansion of field trips to popular food trucks, interactive social media posts by participants, in-class menu sampling and potentially a day in the life spent on a local food truck.
